Dr. Adam Kozin, ND, FABNO (USA)

Dr. Adam Kozin, ND is a licensed naturopathic doctor focusing in naturopathic cancer care.  Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, he attended Concordia University of Edmonton where he graduated with honours in Biology. Due to his love of nature, own health struggles and family members experiences with cancer he decided to pursue a degree in naturopathic medicine from Sonoran University of Health Sciences (formerly Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine) where he graduated with honours.

While attending SCNM Dr. Kozin became heavily involved with their research department. He performed research at both SCNM and Arizona state University (ASU). He has published his research in multiple scientific journals and has presented his research internationally at conferences such as: the Symposium of Integrative Oncology, the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians, The American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, and the Ancestral Health Symposium.

Post graduation he underwent a two-year residency in naturopathic cancer care at Naturopathic Specialists, LLC in Scottsdale, Arizona. While there he trained under Dr. Dan Rubin, ND, FABNO who is one of the leading figures in integrative oncology and one of the founders of the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians (OncANP).

During his residency Dr. Kozin experienced first-hand the benefits of combining conventional cancer care with naturopathic medicine as the clinic he worked at was on a hospital campus. Throughout his training Dr. Kozin rotated through conventional oncology clinics, integrative departments in hospitals and helped patients with cancer as part of an integrated care team. After completing his residency Dr. Kozin was eligible to sit for his board exam in naturopathic oncology after which he earned the title: Fellow by the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology (FABNO). This title allows for Dr. Kozin to call himself a naturopathic oncologist in some states, but not in Canada. After the completion of his residency Dr. Kozin wished to return home and bring what he learned with him to help those with cancer. He has been practicing in Edmonton, Alberta for the past 6 years where he has had the honour of taking care of numerous patients with cancer.

Currently, Dr. Kozin is a member of the College of Naturopathic Doctors of Alberta (CNDA) where he is also a board member, Alberta Association of Naturopathic Doctors (AAND), Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND), and the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians (OncANP) where he serves on the research committee. He was previously a research assistant at SCNM as well as at Arizona State University (ASU).

Why did you choose to go into integrative cancer care?

It may sound like a cliche, but it truly was a calling for me. I knew before I applied to naturopathic medical school that I wanted to work in integrative oncology. Growing up I had family members who were diagnosed with cancer who found great benefit using natural therapies. This heavily influenced me to go into this field.

Why did you choose to practice in Edmonton, Alberta?

I am a third-generation Albertan. I was born and raised in Edmonton and a large portion of my family lives here. My Grandparents still live on a farm in the Bonnyville area. Simply put, Edmonton is my home and I never thought twice about coming back. I also knew that no one had the training I received or offered the same therapies that I offered. I wanted to come back to Edmonton to be able to provide care to the people of Alberta.

What do you like to do for fun?

I enjoy spending time outdoors in our beautiful province. In the fall, you can most likely find me hunting, in the winter ice-fishing, and in the summer backpacking and gardening.
